More than 100 days have passed since Deutsche Bahn launched its social intranet, "DB Planet". Thanks to the seamless partnership between Deutsche Bahn, our partner HIRSCHTEC, and COYO, some 300,000 employees are settling into a digital home for the first time.
Following a Europe-wide call for tenders, the transportation and logistics corporation selected COYO to be its software partner. They were especially impressed by COYO’s mobile-first strategy, which makes it possible to contact all Deutsche Bahn employees digitally, wherever and whenever, for the first time. Whether train driver or engineer, whether out and about or at the office – DB Planet allows all employees to communicate in real time – at any time and any place.
High speed and success ...
... encapsulate the project in our view. We got to work as soon as the software had been chosen: in roughly two months, we set up the highly scalable intranet in our COYO Private Cloud. At the same time, our partner HIRSCHTEC worked closely with the DB project team to achieve migration from the classic “DB-net” intranet platform to the new “DB Planet” digital home, while making technical adjustments and implementing the Deutsche Bahn design.
The “DB Planet” project – and the work involved – paid off. DB’s target was to reach at least 50,000 employees with the new social intranet by the end of 2017. Some 64,000 employees signed up in the first 100 days, visiting the page approximately seven million times a month. In other words, all expectations were surpassed. Deutsche Bahn chose the perfect solution in COYO. All the Group’s employees can finally collaborate on a shared platform that combines editorial intranet content and social networks. Whether with general company news, mobile working, digital project work, or team messaging, DB Planet takes Deutsche Bahn a huge step forward and brings their internal communication into the digital age – and we’re incredibly proud of it.
